Report Shows Further Increase in Inflation Rate This Week
Weekly Inflation Rises by 0.05%, Annual Inflation Now at 12.80%

The Bureau of Statistics has released the weekly inflation report for the country. According to the report, the inflation rate recorded a further increase this week, with a weekly rise of 0.05%. As a result, the overall annual inflation rate has reached 12.80%.

The report states that prices of 16 essential items increased during the past week. Tomatoes became more expensive by Rs. 6.76 per kilogram, onions by Rs. 7.89, and chickpeas (chana dal) by Rs. 3.97 per kilogram. The price of live chicken rose by Rs. 1.10 per kilogram, while beef increased by Rs. 2.41 per kilogram.

Meanwhile, 9 items became cheaper, and prices of 26 items remained stable. Mash dal became cheaper by Rs. 10.24 per kilogram, moong dal by Rs. 4.54, and sugar by Rs. 1.83 per kilogram. Additionally, a 20-kg bag of flour became cheaper by Rs. 11.43 during the week.
